DNG Transport is a US freight and logistics company operating out of Rahway NJ, Dallas TX, and Memphis TN — with LTL, FTL, drayage, crossdocking, and over 50,000 sq ft of warehouse capacity.

Like many logistics operators, DNG had an existing fleet tracker — a third-party system that showed live GPS locations of every truck. The problem was that the tracker had no awareness of what was inside each truck. Which shipment was in which vehicle was a separate piece of information, tracked manually in Excel.

The result: when a customer called to ask where their shipment was, a staff member had to put them on hold, look up the shipment number in the Excel sheet to find the truck ID, log into the fleet tracker, find that truck's current location, and relay the information back. DNG staff log each shipment — assigning a tracking ID, linking it to the relevant truck. The dashboard connects to the fleet tracker API on a scheduled basis, pulling live truck locations and writing them to Firebase. Now the system always knows: shipment X is in truck Y, and truck Y is at location Z. The Excel sheet is gone.

A new page on the DNG Transport website. The customer enters their tracking number, the form queries the dashboard in real time, and the truck's current location is shown on the page. No hold music.
